What is Sculptra?

Sculptra Aesthetic is an injectable biostimulator (FDA-approved) that works by triggering the natural production of collagen in the body and helps gradually replace lost volume - an underlying cause of facial aging.

The thick, syrupy gel formulation of Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a strong polymer that is similar to dissolvable sutures. It acts to jump-start the body's natural production of collagen, resulting in longer-lasting fullness compared to fillers based on hyaluronic acid (HA).

After it’s injected, PLLA creates a biostimulation effect in the tissues which, in turn, improves the collagen locally and improves volume loss and wrinkles. For the next 6-12 weeks, as the synthesis of collagen continues to progress, this additional boost enhances skin tone and texture, resulting in tighter and more youthful-looking skin.

The improvements you will experience are gradual, resulting in a natural-looking appearance over time. Following a series of treatments, usually around three, and after several months, you will notice subtle rejuvenation that looks and feels completely natural. Additionally, the results of Sculptra last at least two years, longer than many other fillers. This is because Sculptra works by stimulating new collagen slowly, bringing natural, long-lasting results.

Your KÜR aesthetic provider will discuss and create a plan for your specific needs. The area will be cleaned, and topical numbing will be used pre-procedure. Sculptra Aesthetic Injectable treatment takes 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the number of injections and areas treated.

The improvement from Sculptra Aesthetic is gradual and natural looking. After several treatment sessions (typically about 3) and a few months, you will see a subtly rejuvenated appearance. And results will last at least two years; that's longer than many fillers. Since Sculptra works slowly to stimulate new collagen, you get natural, long-lasting results.

Any soreness, swelling, or bruising is expected and can last three to 14 days. You will be required to massage your face post-treatment for 5 minutes, 5 times daily, for 5 days. Post-care instructions will be discussed in detail with you during your appointment.
